My Pheasant!

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 18, 2012, 12:12 PM

Yes, he is pretty much done! I just need to cut the wire from his tail and from his feet!

I totally love him and I am very pleased with how he turned out. There are definitely a lot of things I will change when I mount another Pheasant (assuming I will because I love the meat and why not preserve it?) but for my first one, I am happy!

Things that are wrong with him include (but are not limited to):

-I cut his leg bones too far down so his legs aren't completely proper/his posing wasn't entirely accurate due to that.
-I accidentally let him dry out before I put him on the base so I had to position him according to his feet (I was lucky they hadn't come out more unmanageable).
-His eyes were a little lopsided (after letting him dry, and coming back with fresh eyes, I noticed the issue. You can't tell unless you look at him directly from the front). I will have to do the fresh eyes thing BEFORE he dries next time.

Either way, I'm VERY happy with him!

And I don't want to brag, but I definitely think Dan was one of the most accurately done Pheasants in the class. ^^"

I also brought Kovu in at the end of class, and everyone was so amazed and they all thought he was SO cool! c: It was awesome.

We all have decided to keep in touch and get together another time to work on some mounts/skinning/and such together c:

Cool to see that Dan ended up looking so well. Getting together with your classmates to work on mounts, skinning, etc sounds like a really good idea (and very beneficial as well). Maybe I should consider doing something like that later on. It's great to see that you're happy with the results. =)

Thank you very much!
I need to put him out on display before the Thanksgiving party! I'm sure he'll be a nice conversation starter c;
<33

But yes! I'm pretty thrilled that everyone wanted to get in touch! I was so nervous about the class and it was not at all how I imagined it. I didn't think we'd all be so eager to get together again and stuff c:

You should! C:
And thank you c:
